Ion exchange is a process in which ions of a particular species in solution are replaced by ions with a similar charge but of different species attached to an insoluble resin. In essence, ion exchange is a sorption process and can also be considered a reversible chemical reaction. The common applications of ion exchange are water softening water demineralisation, and de-alkalisation and nitrate removal in advanced ion exchange wastewater treatment operations.
Cation exchange resins can also remove most positively charged ions in water such as iron, lead, radium, barium, aluminium and copper among others. Lanlang ® TA465D is a premium grade macroporous type I strong base anion exchange resin with polystyrene matrix and quaternary amine (Triethylamine) function group in standard Gaussian size distribution. TA465D has strong selectivity to capture nitrate and decreased selectivity for other anions such as sulfate, chloride and bicarbonate. TA465D is designed to be used to remove nitrate and nitrite from potable water and wastewater.
