The dealkalization of water refers to the removal of alkalinity ions from water. Chloride cycle anion ion exchange dealkalizers remove alkalinity from water. A dealkalizer contains strong base anion exchange resin that exchanges chloride (the CI- ion of the NaCI) for carbonate (CO-3), bicarbonate (HCO- 3) and sulfate (SO2- 4). As water passes through the anion resin the carbonate, bicarbonate and sulfate ions areexchanged for chloride ions.
SBA dealkalization, the simplest of the dealkalizing processes, is usually done with a Type II SBA resin, in the chloride form. This resin reduces the bicarbonate alkalinity of a water supply by exchanging bicarbonate, carbonate, sulfate, and nitrate anions for chloride anions. While alkalinity is removed, however, the total dissolved solids (TDS) content of the water is not changed. If the hardness to alkalinity ratio in the feed water is greater than 1.0, use of a WAC resin may be a better choice.

Lanlang ® TA202-II is gel type II SBA resin used for water demineralization, dealkalization, nitrates removal. It is devoid of taste and odor, so it is also recommended to use for the demineralization system where amine odor is undesirable.
